Medical Standards (Eligibility) for Joining of Indian Army

Armed Forces (Indian Army) employ more than a million young and Dynamic Candidates each year. Candidates can join the Indian Army as an officer or an Army Man such as Soldier General Duty (GD), Soldier Clerk, Soldier Technical, Soldier Nursing assistant & Soldier tradesman Posts. Joining of Indian Army is the dream of every Young Candidates because of its facilities, a privileged lifestyle and of course, honor in serving the country.

Candidates Who would like to Join Armed Forces (Indian Army) as an officer or an Army Man must be examine him/her self for they have complete some medical Standards before Apply for Any recruitment process. All Candidates who have passed in Written, Physical Examination and SSB Interview will be examine for a Medical Examination held at the Indian Army medical boards. And Only that candidates who have declared fit by the medical authorities are eligible to join the Training Academy of Indian Army. However Candidates who have declared unfit can appeal in the medical board for a Re-medical Examination, also temporary rejections are given to candidates who have curable problems like, overweight, underweight etc.

The Interested Candidates who is going to participate in recruitment process must have Complete the following Medical Eligibility OR Standards for joining of Indian Army.

1. The Candidates must be good in Physical and Mental Health and also should not have any Disease/Disability which can be interfere with the efficiency of Duties.
2. The Candidates Should Not be evidence of week constitution, over weight and bodily defects.
3. The Chest of A candidates should be well developed and having minimum 5 cms expension.
4. The Candidates Should have normal hearing with each ear and good binocular vision in both eyes.
5. Candidates should be able to read 6/6 in distant vision chart with each eye. Colour vision should be CP – III (able to recognize white, red and green signal colours correctly as shown by Martin’s Lantern at 1.5 meters).
6. The Candidates Should have sufficient number of natural healthy gum and teeth i.e. minimum 14 dental points.

7. The Candidates Should not have diseases like deformity of bones, hydrocele and varicocele or piles.
8. Candidates who is participating Soldier General Duty for Infantry should have 6/6 eye sight.
9. The minimum acceptable height for Male candidates is 157.5 cms. And 152 cms for women candidates. minimum acceptable height for Gorkhas and individuals belonging to hills of North Eastern region of India, Garhwali and Kumaon, will be 5 cms less. In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height can be reduced by 2 cms for males and females candidates.
10. A candidate should have no past history of mental breakdown or fits.
